Self Regulation
It is the ability to manage one's thoughts, emotions, and actions so you can stay calm, make good decisions, and achieve your goals. It’s about managing how you react to situations, especially when things are challenging or stressful.
For example:
- You turn off your phone while studying so you don’t get distracted.
- Instead of buying candy at the store, you remind yourself to save money.
- When someone makes you angry, instead of yelling, you take a deep breath and talk calmly.
- If a teacher says your work needs improvement, you try to fix it instead of feeling upset.
Why Self-Regulation is Important?
- Stay Calm Under Pressure: Helps you avoid overreacting or making impulsive choices.
- Reach Your Goals: Keeps you focused and disciplined, even when you feel distracted.
- Improve Relationships: Helps you respond thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally.
