Feedback
Feedback is the response or reaction of the receiver after getting a message from the sender. It helps the sender know whether the message was understood correctly or not.
Importance of Feedback
- It shows whether the message is understood correctly.
- It helps in improving communication.
- Reduces misunderstandings.
- Encourages better interaction between sender and receiver.
Types of Feedback
There are some important feedback in communication cycle as follows:
- Descriptive Feedback: A descriptive feedback, provides meaningful information in a detailed or expensive manner that also contains some analysis or suggestion, etc.
Example: “Your handwriting is neat, but you should write a little bigger to make it clearer.” - Non-descriptive Feedback: A non-descriptive feedback provides only a general response without explaining the reason or suggesting improvement.
Example: “Good work.” - Specific Feedback: Specific feedback is the type of feedback that clearly points out the exact part of work that is correct or needs improvement.
Example: “Your introduction is good, but your conclusion needs more details.” - Non-Specific Feedback: Non-specific feedback is the type of feedback that does not mention exactly what is correct or wrong. It gives a general response without pointing to any particular part of the work.
Example: “You need to improve.”, “Try harder next time.”, “Good effort.” - Formal Feedback: It is the type of feedback that is given in an official and planned manner using proper format or structure, usually in schools, offices, or organizations.
Example: “Performance appraisal reports in offices.” - Informal Feedback: Informal feedback is the type of feedback that is given in a casual and friendly way, without any official format or planning.
Example: Teacher says, “Well done” in the classroom, Coach says “Good effort, keep practicing.”
